Bound in navy cloth with gilt titling, solid bindings with uncracked hinges, save for the front hinge of Vol. IV which is just started. Light edgewear, corner bumps and some corners just worn through. Unfaded spines with bright gold titling. Clean text save for some notes and interactions in volume one, mostly within first hundred pages and the text remains legible though a former reader has struck through some passages lightly, neatly in pencil. Foxing present, mostly to page edges and first few pages and not affecting legibility of the text. Overall a handsome set in nice condition.

Dust jacket is bright and free of notable tears with a couple of slight nicks to top edge and slight edgewear only. Very presentable in new mylar protector. Published in New York, US; Amazon simply demands the publisher be listed as "Viking Canada".

Discusses the link between the Christ-Knight of religious literature and the knight errant of secular literature. Secondly, discusses the Christ-Knight as a warrior-knight of the tournament and principle. Thirdly, lesser poems, lyrics, ballads, and occasional lines from the Miracle Plays are touched upon. Fourthly, mention is made of the scattered works dealing with the Christ-Knight theme from the fifteenth century to the present time. xii + 89 pp with bibliography.
