In good overall condition with some shelf-wear and soiling to red gilt-decorated boards, lightly foxed and weakening binding and, as noted, marked up a bit by Berenson.

(Édouard René Lefèbvre de Laboulaye, 1811 - 1883, French jurist, poet, author and anti-slavery activist, remembered as the intellectual creator of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, and the lesser known Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, France).
