The spine has five raised bands with gilt spine lettering and compartment decoration. Top edges of all volumes are gilt. Marbled end paper. Pagination: vol.1 585 p.; vol. 2 611 p.; vol. 3. 626 p. Polk in Detroit in honor of Michigan's sesquicentennial. It is a cornerstone of any Michigan collection as it was published in the year Michigan was admitted to the Union and provides a great deal of historical and factual information regarding the state and Detroit in addition to a list of household heads, their address and occupation. This primary source material provides much more information on individuals than the United States Census of 1830 which only lists the names of household heads, omitting place of residence and occupation. Sault Ste Marie: Sault Star Publishing. Good+. 1975. Fifth Printing. Softcover. Kirkwood Township is in Ontario, Canada. The author provides a detailed look at lumbering in this part of Ontario and the text is illustrated with interesting photos from the lumbering era. The top corner is cut from rear end blank end paper (probably to remove an owner name at some time). Also, one interior photo has coffee ring on it and there is rippling to the bottom portion of about 50 pages. Covers are the original stiff wrappers decorated to represent wood grain with green lettering and illustration of a log sled on the front wrapper.
