Some edge wear to wrapper, Internally fresh and clean. Thomas Mac Donagh 1878- 3rd May 1916 was one of the seven leaders of the Easter rising of 1916 against British rule. He was a signatory to the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and Commandant of the 2nd Battalion, Dublin Brigade of the Irish Volunteers. He was executed by the British establishment for his part in the Rising at the age of thirty -eight. He was a member of the Gaelic League where he befriended Padraig Pearse and Eoin MacNeill he was a founding member of the Irish Volunteers. He was a poet and playwright. This collection of his Poems was published posthumously in 1916 four months after his execution.The introduction to this collection is by Irish writer and poet James Stephens who was a friend of Mac Donagh's.SCARCE. While living in London the Fitzgibbon's numbered amongst their friend, Norman Douglas, Henry Moore, Dylan Thomas and his wife Caitlin. She and Constantine parted after fifteen years of marriage.
