Born in the middle of the nineteenth century, Peter Taylor Forsyth fought against orthodoxy for the right to a more liberal theology, until experiencing a conversion which brought him out of the realm of thought, ''from a lover of love to an object of grace.'' Forsyth remains a theologian throughout this recent reprint (originally published in 1916) by helping us train our imagination to begin with God, and to keep re-attending only to Him.
