Although not marked as such to the book itself, this copy from the personal library of noted librettist, artist, and New York School poet Kenward Elmslie, who also served as the book's publisher.

New York City, NY, 1964. First Edition, with original cover art (Second Edition had an alternate Brainard cover). Limited to 200 copies, all signed and numbered by Padgett, of which this is no. 98. Softcover quarto, side-stapled in illustrated paper wrappers, unpaginated [42]. Very good, light wear and rubbing to perimeter aspects of cover wrappers, some creasing to wrappers, text block is clean and unmarked but some of the ink for text was transferred to preceding blank pages during mimeo process. Cover and drawings by Joe Brainard. Ted Berrigan started "C" Press in 1963 with Lorenz Gude as publisher and published "C" Magazine from May 1963 to May 1966 for 2 volumes and 13 issues (No #12) and also published Joe Brainard's "C" Comics amongst several books by fellow New York School poets including In Advance of the Broken Arm, preceded by Literary Days by Tom Veitch, Homage to Arthur Rimbaud by Ted Berrigan.

Book is in very good condition, light bumping to top corner of rear board, otherwise binding is tight and square, book is clean and unmarked within. Dust jacket is very good with some minor soiling, some shelfwear along edges, bumping to head corner of rear flap, otherwise bright. Overall condition is very good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall.

Detailed statistical accounting of all emigration to and from Palestine, which offers a snapshot into the land's swelling Jewish immigration of the pre-WWII period.

Near Fine in a Very Good jacket, unclipped, lightly rubbed and soiled, with shallow edgewear including some small tears and creases.. A foundational text for the Afropessimism movement, this landmark study by Patterson--through a close study of over sixty slave societies--established and explored the "social death" of the enslaved people, as perpetrated and accelerated by the parasitic nature of the "Master". Hugely influential towards the thought of Frank Wilderson III, whose work and writings towards Afropessimism constitute a chamber in which Patterson's work constantly reverberates.
