First published in 1977, it was done in conjunction with the Glen Arbor history group. The author covers the community's early history and provides short interviews with area pioneers as well. It is well-illustrated, and all illustrations and photos are captioned. Covers are color printed glossy wrappers. Includes a brochure to the Sleeping Bear Dunes Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive which is loosely laid in. His book describes conditions, observations on thoughts during a trip from St. Petersburg to Moscow in Russia. It was banned when it was published in Russia in 1790 and he was jailed for a time. Randall covered the early history of Muscatine by relating interesting incidents in the lives of some of its early pioneers in a series of radio sketches which aired on Sunday afternoons June 5 through August 28, 1949. What a wonderful idea for imparting a sense of the history of the places in which we all live! This small book is quite uncommon. (I believe it was reprinted in 1980 by the local library along with two other volumes--these are also now uncommon). Original tan printed wrappers. At some time, the spine was reinforced with black tape (which is wider on the rear cover than the front cover--the printing and drawing on the front are not covered by the tape, thankfully). Published not long after the end of the Korean War, this book was written by a Major in the US Army (formerly Commanding General 2nd Infantry Division) and contains many illustrations demonstrating tactics he describes.
