All volumes show minimal shelf-wear to edges of boards. Most corners are gently bumped as well as the upper board of volume six. Text is very clean and very tight. A near fine set of this famous French dramatist.

In three volumes - Volume I: Porcelain; Volume II: Earthenware; Volume III: Enamels and Glass. London: His Majesty's Stationery Office and the Board of Education, 1915, 1930, 1924. Large 8vo., volume I is green paper covered boards, volumes II and III blue cloth. The paper covering volume I is soiled and worn away in places, corners are bumped and the spine is sunned with the joints cracked at the crown. Front hinge cracked, touch of foxing to first and last pages. Volumes II and III show a touch of edgewear to cloth but are otherwise near fine, with volume II having a slight pressure mark to the front and rear flyleaf and pastedown. Hanging scroll (kakemono 掛け物) beautifully mounted on brocade with black wooden jiku handles. Image size 44.7x18.4cm with 49.5cm silk fabric at top, 26.5cm at bottom and borders of approx 5-5.5cm on either side. Rai Kyōhei 頼京平 (c.1756-1834) was an influential Confucian scholar and the uncle of the famous kanshi poet Rai Sanyō. Sanyo was known for Tōjun Kagetsuchō 十旬花月帖 (Journal of Flowers in 100 Days/ A Few Brief Moments Describing Moon and Flowers), a collaborative work of poetry with floral and landscape paintings created after a three month walking tour through central Japan with his nephew and mother in the 1820s.
