General wear, with some rubbing togilding, and rounded corners. Chip removed from front free end paper and pencil drawing on back free end paper. Volume 1 contains: The Theban Brothers, Alexander the Great, Andromache, The Litigants, Britannicus, Berenice. Volume 2 contains: Bajazet, Mithridates, Iphigenia, Phaedra, Esther, Athaliah. Volumes are uniform including with the following notes: black cloth over boards with publisher's device impressed into front cover and with device, title, author, translator, list of plays, and publisher on spine. Corners bumped, edgewear rubbed, a few spots to fore edges. Interior fine. No dust jackets.

London: Orion Books, 2017. 1st Thus. Fine+. Box set in Fine+/As New Condition. Some external creases to the top of spines, otherwise books appear to never have been opened. Set includes 10 postcard illustrations depicting scenes from the stories.

Paris: Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy, 1681. 1st Edition. Good+. Text is legible and in good condition. Boards are worn with rounded corners. Violent condemnation of Jansenists and their doctrines. Text in French.  Pages: 456  Dimensions: 3⅜ x 5⅞ x 1¼ .

Chicago: Way & Williams, 1897. First Edition. Very Good. Maxfield Parrish. The first book designed by Maxfield Parrish and with decorations by Charles Francis Browne. Bound in original publishers cream cloth over boards and stamped in yellow, black and white for Parrish's illustration; repeated on front and rear. Spine with a  yellow stamped label at tope on bottom with balck lines and lettering. Corners gently bumped, bumps to head and tail of spine, some minor smudges. Top edge gilded (one small dent in gilding), long and lower edges rough cut. Private libarary stamp on front pastedown, ffep neatly removed. The interior is clean and clear.  Pages: (8) 309 (5)     Dimensions: 6⅝ x 4¾ x 1.

Light blue paper over boards dark blue cloth spine with red lettering on spine; remainder mark on bottom edge. Internally clean, clear, crisp, and with an unbroken spine.

Westminster: The Newman Press, 1954. First U.S.. Near Fine/Very Good. Translated from the French by Viola Gerard Garvin. Advanced review copy with laid in card detailing. In original, uncliped ($2.50), jacket in protective sheet. Some chipping to edges, long chip to top front, minor rubbing. This is the last volume in the trilogy "The Fortunes of Richard Mahony." First American edition, first issue in September 1929. In orignal, unclipped ($2.50), jacket in poor condition. Large chipping and tear at all corners and at head and tail of spine with darkening of the spine. Deckled long edge; all edges slightly soiled. Covers in very good condition. Orange cloth over boards with black lettering and borders. Inscription on inside front cover. Paris: Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1921. First Edition. Very Good. Printed in French. In original paper boards and wax wrapper. Wrapper with some chipping, especially close to the spine head and tail, as well as, smaller chips at corners. Black lettering on front, spine, and rear. Weakening at the head and tail of spine, including a 1¼  inch tear at spine head. First gathering a little loose, but holding, the remainder is all holding firm. Armoral bookplate on front board verso, name scratched out. All edges untrimmed. A Dramatic Poem in Two parts with a prologue.  Pages: 144     Dimensions: 9 x 6½ x ¾ .

Córdoba: Imprenta de Garcia, 1822. First Edition. Very Good. Contemporary, first hand account of the troop movements throughout Andalusia of Brigadier Conde de Valdecañas against the rebellious, Carabineros Brigade led by Rafael del Riego during the brief liberal rebellion favoring the return of the 1812 constitution. This rebellion successfully resulted in the Trienio Liberal, or three years of liberal rule, within Spain before an invading French army reasserted royal authority in 1823. Bound in 19th century marbled boards with corner and quarter leather and gilded lettering on the spine. Joints rubbed and cracked with some rubbing to spine, gently scuffed corners; all holding firmly. Marbled endpapers and contemporary to binding blanks. No title [uncertain if one was ever present, I have not found any examples]. The interior is clean and clear. Publication details at te end. Pages: (4) 43 (5)     Dimensions: 7½ x 5(5/8) x (3/8) .
