Fair. This thoroughly-worn hardcover has been rebound by a library. The cover is quite worn and is frayed at the head of the spine. The text appears unmarked.

The library has marked the book as follows: there is a sticker on the spine, a stamp on the page ends, stickers, stamps, and a card holder inside the front cover, stamps on the title page, notes on the preface page, a stamp on page 17, and a stamp inside the back cover.

Good. This softcover has unmarked, tight pages. The cover is worn and sunned (lightly discolored) around the edges, and the front cover is creased. Several pages were dog-eared.

Volume Eight, 1999. This book has a tight binding and clean, unmarked pages. The cover is lightly worn along the edges. There is no dust jacket.

Paperback. Good. 300 plus pages of interesting black & white photos of Japan. This string-bound copy has unmarked pages, except for the flyleafs which are foxed with age. The string across the top of the binding is broken, but all other strings are tight and intact. The cover is unevenly sunned and faded. The number 45 is written on the front cover.

Good. Unmarked, tight pages and a clean cover make this a nice hardcover. It has no dust jacket and the cover is lightly worn around the edges.

VOLUMES TWO AND THREE ONLY. This is volumes two and three of the three volume set. It is in Latin. The binding of both volumes is tight and the covers are lightly worn along the edges. There are many sections that have underlining and notes, some of which are quite extensive. The former owners name also appears inside the front cover of both volumes.

Paperback. Fair. This is a former library book. Its pages are unmarked, but the book has typical library stamps, stickers, pockets, etc. including blacked out stamps on the top and bottom edges. The cover is quite worn and trying to separate a bit from the signatures (pages).

Hardcover. Fair. POOR CONDITION but still usable. This back cover of this book is almost detached and the cloth is gone from the spine. There is underlining in red pencil on a few pages. The pages are tight.

Good. This 1902 edition has a red cover with black cursvie title and author's gilt signature on front. Gilt lettering on spine, along with library sticker. Binding tight. Cover and spine worn around edges; 1909 owner's signature inside front cover; 2 inch damp spot across top corner of pages throughout. Library label on spine.

Hardcover. Very Good. This hardcover is a former library book with typical stamps and stickers. The text is unmarked and both the cover and dust jacket are in very good condition.

Spiral-bound. Good. This former library book has unmarked text. The cover is lightly worn around the edges. Typical library stickers, stamps, etc. are present.

Hardcover. Fair. Former library book that has been rebound by the library. There are several pages at the beginning that are loose, having cracked along a crease near the spine. There are a few sparse notes in the text along with library markings, including a sticker on the front cover and a card holder. The brown hardback cover is worn along the edges.

Poor condition. Printed in 1837 by William Pickering in London. This old book has split into several sections. The spine is missing, and the binding has split. Several pages at the front are loose. Someone has taken care with this very worn book. Page 3 of the prologue is missing, but a neatly hand written copy of the page has been inserted in its place. There are no markings or notes inside the book. The covers are loose and the corners are bumped.
