Description:
First edition and appears to be the second issue of Idylls of the King by Lord Alfred Tennyson. Considered one of the greatest and most enduring of Victorian literary works. Printed on the back of the title page (verso) is "Bradbury and Evans, printers, whitefriars." Bound in full morocco with gilt titles on the spine and front panel, ribbon bound in, all page edges are gilt. In very good condition. Ownership inscription on the first page as pictured.Shelf wear on the outside of the book with greatest amount of wear on the corners. Inside of the book, the binding and pages are in a fine condition given this books age. Binding is fairly tight overall, no damage to any pages, no rips, stains or tears. With the exception of the previous owners inscription from 1861 written on the first page. Some foxing within the book but mostly is found on the first and last few pages.
