Good. large 8vo, dark green grained cloth with gilt title to spine, these rubbed, corners mildly bumped, bookplate to fep, first part 'Old Dublin' misbound as it is No.2, folded vertically, remainder with some staining and toning but overall in good condition, binding sound but has opened before the first section. The 1887 articles are 1. Graves and Monuments of Illustrious Irishmen by W.F. Wakeman; 2. Old Dublin (Part 1) by W.F. Wakeman; 3. Rambles Round Dublin by W. St.J. Joyce; 4 Old Dublin (Part II) by W.F. Wakeman. The Special Articles are Irish Graves in England by Michael McDonagh, Ireland's Battles and Battlefields by Weston St.J. Joyce, Ireland in London by Messrs. F.A Fahy and D.J. O'Donoghue, Souvenirs of Irish Footprints Over Europe by Eugene Davis. A scarce compilation and some rare articles.

A first English edition of the original 1966 Greek satirical, political novel, banned in Greece in 1967 after the coup which had forced Vassilikos into exile for seven years. Z has been translated into thirty-two languages and was made into a film in 1969. The d.j. is slightly tanned and has a few minor tears and chips, a larger (1") tear on back spine. Internally some very minor foxing, mainly confined to pre-lim pages, otherwise sound.

Good. 8vo, pp. xxxii, xxxii, 37-361, errata bound in at rear, original dark green cloth with paper label title, this with a minor chip, to spine, with some marks but overall clean, spine dulled, interior with some foxing, particularly in and around illustrations and maps, ink owner's name to fep and a pencilled observation on ffep 'A melancholy instance of how a book should not be written', top and fore edges uncut, binding tight. O'Brien had obtained a B.A. at Trinity College in 1831 and a year later he published his dissertation on the Round Towers of Ireland which he submitted to the Royal Irish Academy for a prize of a gold medal and purse of £50. The award went to George Petrie but O'Brien was awarded a consolation prize of £20.
