James Pendergrass, First Edition, 24 hand-coloured aquatint plates, 4pp. of advertisements ("Oriental Works Lately Imported by Black, Parry & Co. Booksellers to the Honourable East India Company", 1 July 1814) at end, 3 small spots on title but generally very clean, half red morocco gilt by Roger de Coverley [Abbey Travel 517; Lust 386], 4to, J. Nichols, 1814. The views include India, Malaysia, Macao, Canton and St Helena.Provenance: William Orme Foster (1814-1899), bookplate of Apley Park bookplate. Foster, an iron master and Member of Parliament for South Staffordshire from 1857-1868, purchased the Apley Park estate near Bridgnorth in 1868; by descent to the present owner.

Bound in original green cloth, stamped and lettered in gilt.The "heliochrome, " printed by the Heliotype Printing Co., is an early example of a colored photographic plate print, as in the plate of the Old State House.
Very nice copy of landmark architectures of Boston in England and Boston in the US. Bookplate of previous owner inside. Minor tear in upper right hand corner of a blank page. Illustrations and internal pages are in near fine conditions.

Signed First edition. 3 volumes, octavo; contemporary sheepskin, smooth spine, smooth edges.Extremely scarce, First complete edition of the very first Botany book printed by William Carey in Serampore, India!First complete edition, partly original, of this rare treatise on Indian botany composed by William Roxburgh (1759-1815), the director of the Botanical Garden of Shibpur, near Calcutta, and published after his death by William Carey (1761-1834).
This copy is uniquely signed by the author's son to the Swiss botanist George Samuel Perrottet (1790-1870), the founder of the Botanical Garden of Pondicherry. The indexes of the three volumes are bound at the end of the first and the rare errata butterfly has been well preserved.
