Description:
Londini [London]: Typis J. Nichols; Impensis W. Ginger [et al], 1782. 8vo, pp. 8vo, pp. [iv], 548 + frontispiece map. Title-page in red and black. Contemporary sheep, unlettered spine divided by raised bands, edges sprinkled red. First gatherings a little proud and slightly worn at edges, one leaf with a small piece torn from blank margin, short wormtrail to blank margin of last few leaves. Binding rubbed, worn at extremities, a few strips scraped from rear board. The eighth edition of Thomas Hutchinson's reputation-making edition of Xenophon's Cyropaedia, first published in 1727 and reprinted once a decade thereafter. Later editions become harder to find, and ESTC locates just 5 copies of this one (BL, Morrab, NLI, Cornell, Illinois). ESTC T139189.
