A very good copy with a fine original drawing.Tato Yashima inscribed the half title in 1967 and next to it is a color drawing of a village fisherman with his Yashima's red seal on the bottom. A very good copy.Cajzoran Ali, in her “Divine Posture Influence upon Endocrine Glands” of 1928, locates the key to the ultimate spiritual truth of yoga in the 7 ‘ductless glands’ of the body. Her course of posture training and “Breath Culture” is designed to align the 7 chakra seals and thereby to bring one into harmony with the God who is “individualized within you”. Although discounted due to her endchrine theories. this is the first book by an American woman devoted to Yoga.

Wrappers a bit faded but map is fine.The map identifies cities, towns, rivers, lakes, railroads, and settlements in New York. Bradley Atlas maps are readily available but these pocket maps are somewhat scarce. OCLC only finds his pocket maps of Massachusetts., Illinois, and Alaska.

At the lower right corner there is a "Peerskill Business Advertising Directory." Remains of stub on verso. some short tears to blank margins (none extend into the neatline). A very attractive map/plat.This is map number 20 (so printed on the upper blank margin) from the "Atlas Of New York And Vicinity From Actual Surveys by and under the direction of F.W. Beers" and published by Beers in 1867. Peekskill is now rightly well-known as a arts community with artists’ studios and art galleries galore. More than 100 art studios are housed in the older buildings and homes.

New York: N.p., 1893. An elaborate Easter greeting for 1893. Homemade string tied Easter card with 8 stiff leaves measuring 15 x 11 1/2 inches. Each leaf with pressed flora of the region and an original photograph (the photographs are all trimmed into shapes of which the meaning is lost and are all outlined in gilt). The title leaf (done on even thicker paper) is calligraphic and with pressed flowers and reads as above. The following leaves are as follows; "Totman's Gulf; Lorraine" and bears a large cyanotype of a waterfall surrounded by pressed flora; "Lover's Walk; Sylvan Beach" with a large cyanotype of a forested trail with a pug sitting in the middle, surrounded by pressed flora; "Lorraine Gulf" with a large cyanotype of a bridge over a river, surrounded by pressed flora; "Salmon River" with a large cyanotype of a bend in the river, surrounded by pressed flora: "Lake of the Isles, St. Lawrence River" with a large albumen showing a canoe on the lake, surrounded by pressed flora; "In the Canadian… Read More

Double page map of the routes to the Hotel in the center. Stapled self-wrappers. Very good condition. Strangely this is quite scarce with OCLC only recording one copy (Bancroft)."It was 1871 when James McCauley obtained permission from the Yosemite Board of Commissioners to build and operate a toll trail to and from Yosemite Valley at the base of Sentinel Rock and climb over 3,000 feet to Glacier Point. With the new convenient access, innkeeper Charles Peregoy built “The Mountain House” at the overlook in 1873. Hikers ascending McCauley’s Four Mile Trail to reach Glacier Point could now rest for the night at the small hotel with its stunning views. An attractive and detailed topographic view of Yosemite National Park including roads and trails, plus dotted lines representing trails suggested for "adequate system," and water ways colored in blue. Shows portions of the surrounding Mineral Lands and Stanislaus Forest Reserve. Identifies major spots including the Big Trees of Mariposa Grove, El Capitan, Half Dome and the rest of Yosemite Valley, county lines, Hetch Hetchy Valley, etc. Fold lines (as always). An excellent copy.

Yosemite: YPCC, [ca. 1930]. Original silver gelatin print measuring 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. Very sharp image.This image is of an 8-door touring car going through the middle of a giant redwood tree named Wawona. We can see 12 passengers but the car surely held more. On the verso is the Yosemite Park and Curry Company stamp giving the reorder number (31329) in case any of the passengers wanted additional copies of this keepsake to one of the great parks of the world. Ansel Adams did extensive work for the Yosemite Park and Curry Company YPCC in the late 1920 and 1930s (though they surely would not have wasted his skills on such a pedestrian shoot).

In the original frame. Measures 35 x 30 inches. Some light rubbing to frame but painting is still bright and lovely.

San Francisco: California Fig Syrup Co., [c. 1890]. Eight-panel promotional brochure for this San Francisco-based laxative company. 14 1/4 x 5 3/8 inches (folding down to 3 1/2 x 5 3/8 inches). While full of fascinating hyperbole of the time this item is chiefly of interest for its illustrations. On the rectos are four chromolithographs; a robed woman plucking figs, two views of the coast of California and a fine color view of Yosemite Falls. The illustrations on the verso are all monochrome and include the Big Tree, Mariposa Grove; Mount Shasta; Lick Observatory and the Santa Barbara Mission.

Map side is comprised of four maps, all concerning Yosemite. Maps printed in brown, black, red, yellow and blue. Title of map printed in red and black and in two fonts. Aside from some browning on the opening panel of the text side, a very good copy.

Yosemite: Best Studio, 1935. The original silver gelatin photograph measures 8 x 5 inches and shows a family of seven, all in the saddle on a trail Contract and tone are very nice. On the front we read "Yosemite 8-4-35 in the plate and the rear is stamped First edition. Octavo. [1-8]9-207, [1] pp. including 18 full page illustrations (one of which is a frontispiece portrait and two are maps of Chinatown). Publisher's red cloth with black spine and cover lettering. Previous owner's presentation on front flu. A very good and clean copy.One of the very few accounts of Los Angeles' Chinatown written by a person of Chinese descent. A fascinating description of the people and especially buildings of Chinatown. the author, a well respected practitioner of Chinese medicine, was also elected chairman of the Koumintang, the Chinese Nationalist political party, and vice-president of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association. Washington DC: United States Mint, 1990. Original 3" copper medal issued in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Yosemite National Park. Designed by Chester Matrin, one side shows a waterfall amid some redwoods and bear the lettering "Yosemite" and the other show a wide angle view of the vallery along with a John Muir quote ("Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, John Muir"). Comes with the original small printed placard and a plexiglass stand. Excellent.
