A key figure in the development of Constructivism in the USSR, Aleksei became first involved in creative activity in 1917 when he set up an amateur theatrical group with the Moscow Union of Food Workers. In 1921, Gan, together with Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, and other artists announced himself as a member of the First Working Group of Constructivists. A laconic and expressive cover design was produсed by artist G.R. It remained an advertising style of Stenberg brothers, Dlugach, Rodchenko, Elkin, Telingater and Chichagovy sisters who designed some books of 'Zemlia i Fabrika'. This is a volume from the complete works by Walter Scott edited by Benedikt Livshits (1887-1938), known as a member of the Futurist group Hylaea in the pre-revolutionary period. Being a writer and translator in the Soviet Union, he became a victim of the Great Purge. Worldcat doesn't track this edition.

Wartime propaganda issued to be dropped from an airplane. Printed in different typefaces, it overviewed Nazi crimes for which Soviet people had to avenge. 2) Pamphlet: Tikhonov, N. O nemetskom sadizme [i.e. About German Sadism]. [Leningrad]: Izd. Glavnogo polit. upravleniia Krasnoi Armii, [1940s]. 4 pp. 22x14 cm. Very good, few minor tears of upper edge. During the Great Patriotic war, a poet and writer Nikolai Tikhonov (1896-1979) worked in the Political Administration of the Leningrad Front. He created essays, short stories, articles, poems and issued leaflets with well written and influential texts against Nazis. He skillfully wrote about the bloodiness and unimaginable cruelty of the enemy. In all, both are extremely rare survivals of wartime.

Paperback. 156 pp. The book is a first person account of a soldier's journey, and is based on Artem Chekh's diary that he wrote while and after his service in the war in Donbas. One of the most important messages the book conveys is that war means pain. Chekh is not showing the reader any heroic combat, focusing instead on the quiet, mundane, and harsh soldier's life. Chekh masterfully selects the most poignant details of this kind of life. Translated from the Ukrainian by Olena Jennings and Oksana Lutsyshyna.
