Single sheet, on cream watermarked, headed paper. Handwritten in black ink, it is a short and cordial exchange. Description:
London: Collins, (1962). First edition, first printing. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper, by Kenneth Farnhill, has one closed tear to the rear panel and some light handling marks throughout. It has not been price clipped (21s. net). The boards are free from notable chips and marks, with a slight and consistent crease at the spine. The internals are clean, but slightly foxed at the front and rear preliminaries. The text blocks are also so slightly foxed at the side edge. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition.
The inside story of a new type of international crime written by the first man to organise the fight against it.

Description:
London: Elkin Mathews, 1916. First paperback edition, first printing. This is a good copy. Unfortunately, the front panel is detached from the spine. Otherwise, this is a rather clean copy with very little foxing (as common on this title) present. Printed on wove paper, Binyon has warmly inscribed to fellow poet and international scholar Carl Kjersmeier, reading: 'To Carl Kjersmeier fraternal greeting from Laurence Binyon. Dec 1916'. Inscribed in the year of publication, this is a rather fine presentation copy from poet to poet. The text blocks are clean and the internals equally so. Overall, this is a good copy.Marked by many as a follow-on from his eternal poem 'For the Fallen', The Anvil is peppered with allusions to war and its causes.

Description:
London: Hutchinson, (1989). Uncorrected proof copy. This is a near fine copy. The striking soft covers are slightly dog-eared at one corner and with some slight rubbing at the others. There are some surface scratches present. The spine is not creased and appears unopened. The text blocks are slightly foxed on the side edge, and have light rubbing at the bottom-right corner. The author's signature is present on the full title page in black ink. This is no.394 of 500 proof copies. Overall, this is a near fine copy of a scarce title.

Description:
London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1913. First edition, first printing. This is a very good copy. Without the elusive dust wrapper. In the red cloth boards as issued. There are some general marks throughout the cloth, with some fading and further marking at the spine. The text blocks are incredibly fresh and the internals, despite some sparse foxing, are mostly clean. The author has signed flatly to the front fly leaf. Overall, this is a very good copy. Containing poems such as 'Vigil' and 'The Porch of Stars', this is a fine example of Binyon's late Victorian style.
