A continuous run from MARCH 30th. 1824, volume IX, no. 452 until MARCH 17th. 1829, volume XIV, no. 720. The numbering is broken in the 1825/26 volume - it comprises nos. 504 to 512 inclusive and then nos. 522 to 564 inclusive though the chronology is continuous. There are 52 issues per volume, thus 260 issues - 1040 pages [large folio sheet folded to 4 pages per issue ]. The sheet size is as above, each page with 5 columns of text and occasional woodcut. An early owner has cut out certain advertisements in each volume, totalling, for the 5 volumes, some 250 column centimetres, out of 860 column centimetres per issue. No date [post-1971]. . A single bifolium, an heraldic crest on the front, and a half-tone sepia illustration to head each of the next pages, fore-and lower-edges uncut, the faintest crease in the lower corner, else in excellent condition.

Anders Zetterberg. Stockholm. 1795. 8vo.. pp. (iv), 196. Title vignette, decorative head-piece to Cap.1. Contemporary half sheepskin over paper boards, the front cover with the number '349 M4' impressed in the centre, signature of ALBRECHT IHRE, dated variously 1808, 1812, 1814, traces of wax seals on both paste-downs, faded marginal damp-mark on the title and a few following leaves, both top and bottom edges of the book-block have the number '69' in ink, scattered foxing, else a clean and tight copy. *An elementary school-book of unusual scarcity - the only copy traced is held in the Bancroft Library, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY. There is no copy in any major European library, including those of Sweden and Denmark. Nor is there a copy in any of the major North American libraries.

A few little nicks and creases at the edges, three faint horizontal and one vertical fold with the odd tiny hole where the folds meet, a couple of very small and fine worm tracks along the folds, all scarcely visible except against the light, overall in good condition. *The text of this broadside is taken verbatim from the announcement in THE GAZETTE, page 982, 1829.

All single sheets folded to give 4pp., all folded twice horizontally, some of them also with a bottom edge folded, a couple of early issues with a single rust hole affecting a few letters, the odd issue dusty on the front page, issue no.1 with a small tear in the fore-edge margin with slight loss not affecting text, overall a clean and bright run of a rare company newsletter. *A rare run of this important photographic supplier's newsletter. COPAC does not list this, the NEW SERIES, and has only one reference to the OLD SERIES, 1878 to 1894, held in Imperial College. I cannot trace a copy outside of the UK. The first patent for the autotype process of permanent photographic reproduction was filed in 1868 by Joseph Swan. Contemporary calf gilt, spine a little rubbed, all edges gilt, marbled end-papers, the book-plates of the REVEREND WILLIAM-HENRY HENSLOW [b.1802], the one at the front is heraldic, that at the rear shows the device used in his book THE PHONARTHRON, Or the Natural System of the Sounds of Speech, 1840. *Henslow, one of the glorious eccentrics of the nineteenth century, curate of the village of Wermigey, Norfolk, author of 'Beard shaving and the common use of the razor an unnatural, irrational, unmanly, ungodly and fatal fashion among Christians'; he also wrote his own version of the National Anthem, the tract - 'Facts and tracts in evidence of the apathy, dereliction, and degradation of the national clergy'; 'No hope for the Church of England as by law "perverted!" A letter to the National Club, 13, Cockspur Street, London. Chairman, His Grace the Duke of Manchester'; and other controversial pamphlets.
