London: Macmillan, 1970. FIRST EDITION. Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.223; [1]. Publisher's brown cloth, gilt titles to spine, in pictorial dust-jacket designed by Mike Cook. Some spotting to endpapers and top edge, a few pages creased from being turn over. Price clipped dust-jacket shows well with just some slight fading to spine and some creasing to the top and bottom edges. Very good. From the blurb; "Have we reached the stage where we can accept a coloured squire, Anne Abbott delves into the deep roots of our native snobbery in Baa Baa Black Sheep, her first novel... set in an unspecified part of rural England which appears to have missed not only the twentieth century but the nineteenth as well.

London: Arlington Books, 1965. [Cookery] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (26 x 17cm), pp.viii; 169 [3]. Publisher's brown cloth, gilt titles to spine, dark blue endpapers, dust-jacket. Illustrated with 15 double page drawings. Edges a little toned, binding lightly handled. Price clipped dust-jacket rubbed, creased and chipped to top and bottom edges, toned to spine with a closed horizontal tear to same, some spotting and marking. Very good. From the blurb: "A splendidly simple but practical, unashamedly luxurious cookery book and guide to entertaining for men... The Bachelor Chef teaches skill with sauces, daring with herbs and basic store cupboard tactics. Two important chapters show how to score with girls and how to deal promptly and efficiently with culinary disasters." Like much from the 1960's perhaps best taken with a generous pinch of salt.
