Book is in very tight, very clean condition No ownership marks, not ex-library. Dust jacket is in very good condition Has artist's name on the bottom corner and there are no major rips or tears, just some small shelf wear and what looks like a price sticker removed on bottom right front. Also what looks to be a water stain on back cover. Overall a very good copy of a first edition noir-type book. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.

Random House 1949 This is a later printing as noted by the red dj and boards. the first printing was in blue. No additional printing stated other than 1949. Book is in very good condition for a child's book. No ownership marks, not scribbling or writing of any kind in book. No tears. Not ex-lib. DJ has loss to top and bottom but is mostly in one piece as pictures can attest. Now protected as best I could in mylar. A rare copy when dj is included.

Collins 1927 First edition/ 3rd printing only one month after 1rst and same as 2nd. I have never seen a 2nd printing, printed in same month as 3rd (this is stated on the copyright page), leading me to believe there was a mistake on the 2nd printing and probably destroyed?? Very good, unmarked edition with light smudging throughout. spine is separating somewhat and there is a lean. Otherwise tight and clean. Not ex-library. Comes with a color facsimile of correct dj. Can not locate another of this printing.

The Book club Collins 1968 These book club editions by collins came out shortly after Collins published the first editions. Most in the same year. yet these came out with their own original dust jacket designs and they are very attractive making them a collector's item in their own right. The book is very tight, bright and clean. No ownership marks. Lovely dust jacket with some minor loss to spine top and bottom edges and a little rubbing. Protected in mylar. Not clipped and not ex-lib.
