The book is very good plus with a tiny bruise to the bottom corner of the upper board. Internally there is an ownership name to the front pastedown but otherwise the book is clean and bright. The dust jacket is lightly rubbed to the corners edges, and slightly more to the spine tips. There is a 2.5cm closed tear. and associated creasing to the front joint at the head of the spine and consequent tape reinforcement on the verso of the jacket. Title page and 37pp printed on one side of the page only each with a hand coloured image. Some rubbing to the foot of the spine and very light marking to the boards. Internally clean, without name, inscription or book plate, occasional light marking and small chip from the top corner of page 6 affecting none of the illustration or text. 1867 1867. 6.2 x 8.6cm portrait on 6.3 x 10.2cm card with facsimile signature below. The same carte-de-visite in the National Portrait Gallery's Photographs Collection (ref. NPGx11863) dates it to 1867. A very nice condition item, with firm sharp corners, having a surface crease top left from where the image was laid onto the card, and a couple of foxing spots at the top.
