New York: William A. Mercein, 1834. 84 pp. Removed from a bound volume and trimmed when bound. Inscribed by the author. Buchanan (1772-1851), born in Ireland, was a landed gentleman, entrepreneur, lawyer, and diplomat who spent his later life in New York and Canada. In 1816, as Her Majesty's Consul in New York, he worked to funnel British immigrants to Canada. He provides a plan to move 1000 emigrants a year through a Canadian depot where they would train for life in rural Canada. The title offered here discusses the problem of the poor and the criminal classes in England and America.

[London]: John Fairburn, 1825. 76 pp. Removed and lacking the frontispiece. Maria Foote (1797-1867) was a well regard actress in London who at the age of 17 entered into a relationship with William Berkeley who promised to marry her. Over several years the couple had 2 children and eventually Foote realized he would not marry her. Joseph Hayne then began courting Foote but kept not showing up to several planned weddings. Foote sued for breach of promise and won. She continued her carrier and married in her mid-30's and had two more children.

Philadelphia, 1830. 8" x 6 1/2". Engraved in ornate letter and script. Very good condition. The billhead is for Edward Schelmerdine's hat manufactory located at 159 Chestnut St, in Philadelphia The invoice is for 3 purchases of Beaver hats during the year of 1830. Schelmerdine arrived in Philadelphia from England in 1807. He was an active member of the Franklin Institute.

Housed in a new case and mounted on linen.

London: Richard Phillips, 1803. 6 volumes in full leather in fair condition. Spines cracked, foxing, cloth tape or evidence of cloth tap having been removed on the inside of each cover. The tape was used to hold mylar book jackets. A good set to have rebound. vo. 1. xxvi, 316, vol. 2. 404 pp. Vol. 3. 444, Vol. 4, 504, Vol. 5, 527, Vol. 6, 476, [4] pp.

This is the copy of one of the owners of the company and has his bookplate. A very scarce promotional piece for this company's safes. Only 3 copies located in libraries.

Illustrated with 39 plates of safes and the text provides testimonials on the ability of the safes to protect important papers from fie. This in owner Frank Herring's copy with his names printed on a leather bookplate. Worldcat locates 2 copies. 133, [3] pp.

Chefoo, China: [Self Help Dept. Womens Bible School Presbyterian Mission], 1930. 8 pp. Beautifully handmade Chinese paper cut album. Each image depicts a folk tale with corresponding glassine page with an English translation and title along with the Chinese title. These ornate albums were produced to raise funds for the mission.

New York: Printed for the Author, 1885. 120 pp. Wraps chipped and soiled. A scarce pamphlet reviewing colonial laws on witchcraft.

Wallingford, Conn: Wallingford Printing Company, 1875. 330 pp. Boards damp stained. In his preface the author describes how in 1864 he came to write a series of articles on his adventures walking for a local newspaper. He points to Thoreau works as a major influence on his life and writings. Quite scarce with copies at the British Library, AAS and the New York Public Library.

Randolph, NY: Randolph Publishing Co, 1891. 42 pp. Wraps stained, chipped and are almost detached. A large two-page illustration shows the college buildings. There are two other illustrations and map. One picture has small interior images including a dorm room. This was actually a co-ed institution.
