Description:
London: Printed for S. Bladon, 1769. First Edition. Very good in later boards, spine and corners rubbed, bottom inch of title page excised, lower extension glued to back of title page causing discoloration to imprint, 1937 date stamped on back of title page, and with bookplates of noted collector Willis Vickery and Philadelphia-born industrialist Edward Berwind.. First edition of the scarce short satirical play devoted to mocking David Garrick, perhaps the most famous actor of his day, who held the three-day, quasi-religious/nationalist Stratford Jubilee celebrating Shakespeare, which contemporaries largely panned, but was later widely credited as being a key moment in Stratford's history, developing it into a tourist destination. 8vo. [3]-6 (bound without half title), vii-viii, 55pp., [1]. ESTC T40533.
