This is the first edition, first impression of Katherine Mansfield's most famous collection of short stories first published in 1922. The collection includes the eponymous short story, "The Garden Party", "The Stranger", "At The Bay", "The Voyage" and others. This was Mansfield's second collection of short stories and the last published in her lifetime, yet she has become one of the most loved modernist writers, even leading Virginia Wolff to say she was jealous of Mansfield's writing. Good Condition. Blue coth with yellow lettering. Binding is firm. Rear hinge is lightly cracked casuing board to be slightly loose. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed. Leaf 93/94 has a notable tear with minor loss. Boards have moderate wear with some splits to spine edge. Light bumps to corners and fraying to spine ends. Light staining to rear board. Spine is lightly tanned.

This is a first UK edition of "The Golden Bowl" by Henry James. This is one of only 3000 copies printed with the march 1905 catologue to the rear (40pp Mathew catologue). The American edition preceded this edition by 3 months, being published in novemeber 1904. It is often considered one of James's major works and a masterpiece of late 19th and early 20th-century fiction. The novel is known for its complex narrative structure, intricate psychological exploration, and keen observation of social norms and like James's other novel "The Ambassadors" it showcases the tension between American and European cultures. Good Condition. Blue cloth boards with gilt titles to front board and spine. Binding and hinges are firm. Pages are moderately tanned, more pronounced foxing to pastedowns and end papers. Boards have moderate edge-wear with some bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends resulting in minor fraying to cloth. Light tanning to spine.
