'Red Badge Detective' endpapers, [viii] 307[1]pp with original unclipped jacket priced at $2.00. The author has signed the book on the blank following the front free endpaper, "With best wishes from the author/ John Rhode/June '32". The boards are bright with some dust staining and toning to the spine. There is a little pushing to the spine tips, three of the four corners are creased and there is a 2cm split in the cloth at the top of the lower joint. Internally there is some toning to a section of the endpapers where the dust jacket does not reach and a little spotting, mainly to the uncut edges but occasionally extending onto the text pages. The boards have been well protected by the slip case and are at least very good plus, having a hint of rubbing to the raised bands only. Internally, the book is very clean without marks. There is a little softening to the corners and a little rubbing to the spine tips, corners and edges. A little dulling to the gilt titles on the spine and a hint of a lean. Internally, there is a faint name to the front free endpaper, occasional light spotting and finger marks and some toning to the uncut edges. The endpapers show signs of splitting although the the binding remains firm. A newspaper article about Captain Kettle has been stuck on the front pastedown.
