The text blocks are slightly foxed at each edge, though otherwise white. This copy is free from inscriptions and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition.

There is slight rubbing at the corners and at the top and tail of the spine. It had not been price clipped. The original publisher's boards are free from chips and marks and sharp at the corners. The text blocks are bright and white throughout. Overall, this is a near fine copy from a thrice Nobel Prize nominated author.

London: Methuen & Co., (1955). First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The Michael Ayrton dust wrapper is beautifully illustrated. There is some light toning and bumping present at the top and tail edges. It has not been price clipped showing the original 30s. net price. The boards have a lean and the black bands are slightly rubbed, the gilt titling remaining bright. The top text block is foxed, but the bottom and side are clean. This copy is free from previous owner's ink and is, overall, in near fine condition.The second and third books in Lewis's trilogy.
