Lilly Library Publication Number XII, the sole edition of the catalogue of the Ian Fleming Collection as purchased by the Lilly Library, a limited edition of 1500 copies. Original black wrappers with Fleming's family crest and motto on front wrapper in gold. 53pp including 16 pages of monochrome illustrations. A compliment slip from Bertram Rota is laid in. A fine copy clean and bright noting only a pencil inscription indicating the book is a gift from the Lilly Library on the title page, and a very faint toned outline from a newspaper cutting laid in. George Bell and Sons, 1905. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG/VG-. Blue cloth with blind stamped front board and gilt stamped titles to the spine. Uncut edges with decorative red and white endpapers, xiv, 287 (1) with 116 illustrations. Together with a very scarce original dust jacket. Although protected by the dust jacket, the spine is somewhat faded as is often the case with this book. Internally, there are no names, inscriptions or book plates. There is a little light toning to the endpapers and some spotting mainly to the uncut edges. The binding is tight and square. The dust jacket is a very scarce survivor. It is in two pieces and is very delicate with toning to the spine and a number of small chips along the top edge more prominently on the back panel (see images). It has now been put in a clear removable jacket to protect it from further damage. All in all, a very good copy in a scarce dust jacket. VG++/VG. 1st Edition 14.7 x 20.7 cm dark blue cloth with blind stamped publisher's device to the front and silver stamped titles to the spine. viii 246 (2) with original jacket priced at $2.75. Clean bright boards that have been well protected by the dust jacket with little rubbing to the spine tips and corners, the top corner of the front board being lightly bruised. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a clear removable cover (not shown), is generally very good. There is a little rubbing to the edges spine tips and corners, with two small tears of under 0.7 cm along the top edge and minimal loss to the the head of the spine and top corners. There is a 1.5 cm closed tear at the foot of the spine. A very presentable copy. All in all a very nice 1st UK Edition of this love story set in Harlem in the early 1970s about a man falsely accused of rape and filmed under the same name in 2018. There is a tiny bruise to the top edge of the front board some 2cm across from the joint. The spine has toned to brown and there is a 2.5cm band across the top of the front board that is ever so faintly toned. Internally, there a neat owner name of the first front free endpaper and a tiny semi-circular mark at the bottom edge of the first 5 leaves.
