The Eric Kennington dust wrapper is beautifully illustrated. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 15/- net price. There is slight shelf wear throughout. The back strip is lightly foxed and there are handling marks to the lighter areas. There is internal tape at the head of the spine. The boards are beautifully bound, the gilt tooling to the spine and front panel being bright. There are some marks to the front pastedown. The text blocks are moderately foxed. Loosely inserted is a piece of card, outlining the 1931 value of '30/-'. This copy is free from inscriptions and is in very good condition overall.The first of the Pelican books, as reproduced in paperback by Allen Lane in 1937.
