Contemporary panelled calf rather dilapidated with spine worn at the ends, corners worn, joints weak but holding, very small worm track in the top corner of the front border showing on the first two leaves, else contents good, early ownership inscription - Thomas Bartley, his Book, 1743' and, curiously, 'Thos. Paige not his Book' ! *BLANCHE HENREY#131 - with 10 references to bees.

Original decorated paper wrappers, the last leaf and rear wrapper detached with a few little tears in the lower edge of the plate, trace of vertical fold, a few corners turned over, used but in good condition overall.

Publisher's hessian, lettered loose-leaf binder, ex-library with neat stamp on the front paste-down and half-title, on the edges of the book block and rear end-papers, call number on spine, else a very good copy. *All plates with four photo-illustrations and corresponding explanatory line drawings, all on heavy art paper.

Photogravure frontispiece portrait by MISS LILY EVANS, circa 1895, 20 coloured plates, the portrait and plates all laid into recessed heavy paper with captioned guards. Publisher's quarter cloth, uncut on heavy paper, the front board with a very faint ring mark, the rear board faintly spotted, top corner of one guard creased , overall a bright and clean copy. *Not uncommon but a fine production, and to quote the Appreciation - 'One may venture to prophesy that long after the present craze for the works of the Cubists and Vorticists has been forgotten, interest in Kate Greenaway's drawings, described by Ruskin as being executed in pure graceful movement and dainty design, will continue to survive.' Not quite, but they are lovely !
