California is shown as an island, and Terre Australe is a vague line encircling the Antarctic. Terre de Iesso is the name given to the land mass northwest of North America. Paris: Marini Et Cie. Good. 1926. First Edition. Softcover. French-language title, L'identification des Avions par le Systeme F. Bianconi, has green yapp-style softwraps with gilt title and colorful mounted artwork of an airplane. The covers is heavily toned around the edges, and shows folding and chipping along. The spine is sun-faded and missing a chip at the bottom. First free end pages show discoloration and some interior pages show light rubbing. This scarce 1926 aviation book is illustrated throughout with color drawings of international airplane insignia. The title page has a mounted picture of the same picture from the cover. The Systeme F. Bianconi allowed people to classify airplanes as military, domestic or tourism-related, and to identify the country of origin by the insignia on the underside of a plane's wings. Twelve beautiful botanical chromolithographs spanning the mountains and plains of Colorado are matted in heavy cardstock with decorative blind stamping around the oval opening, all in olive green clothbound portfolio with snap. The author, Sarah Bennett Walker, was known as "Mrs. Colorado Wildflower." This is #403 of 1000 copies produced. Unbound as issued, with a thick navy satin ribbon to tie the plates in place. Fastener on ribbon is broken, little wear save for some mild foxing to mats. Edges of portfolio are rubbed on edges, corners bumped. A staplebound pamphlet with several articles in Spanish and English, with a focus the San Juan-Chama water diversion project in northern New Mexico. Front has an illustration of a chicken yard with a rain barrel and a rising sun. Brown oblong pebbled cloth album, 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches, with 84 original photographs mounted two per sheet on recto and verso of 21 sheets, each photograph 5 x 4 inches. Light silvering to some of the images but fine internally, wear to cloth covers. Album of photographs caption titled: Lake Bomoseen: VT. August -1903-. A charming family album on the shores of Lake Bomoseen, Vermont, with numerous canoeing, camp and fishing scenes, many featuring the well-heeled women in the group. Quite the silly group full of laughter and antics. One series shows two men skipping rocks and playing in the water. Another photo of a man shooting a pistol. Many proud fishing photos and several hunting images. Wonderful images with prime examples of period clothing for the men and women of wealthy vacationers. Very Good. Ephemera. Northwest Territorial land warrant document dated to May 1789 in Marietta, Northwest Territory. Reads: "S. S: Your land warrant was put into one of my shares of course you own 200 acres of land with me. Marietta May 10th, 1789" and is signed "R Oliver" (Colonel Robert Oliver) ; docketed on verso, reads: "Col Oliver for 200 Acres". Document is on a small sheet of paper measuring 8" x 2 ¼". Very good condition with ½" tear along one mailing fold and light toning. Marietta was the first permanent settlement of the Northwest Territory and was established in 1788. Located along the Ohio River in the eastern part of what would become the state of Ohio (Ohio became a state in 1803). This legal document was written by Robert Oliver (1738-1811) , who was a captain in the Revolutionary War from Conway, Massachusetts. Crampton, a river rat, University of Utah professor, and author of Standing Up Country, provides a "regional biography" of Grand Canyon, with 17 color geologic maps, 16 color photos, and more than 100 black and white photos. This was an association copy given to Georgie Clark, the first female commericial river guide in Grand Canyon, by two people who went on one of her trips. Hoy with hydrography and culture by Phillip H. Allman, Jr. Prepared at the University of Oklahoma Research Center. Map measures approximately 38 X 38 inches. Overall in very good condition with some chipping and fraying to edges; slight toning to bottom 3 ½ inches; a few creases from folding. Scale is 300 miles to 5 inches. This topographic map of the Indian subcontinent shows mountains and waterways as well as man-made features such as railroads. .

A set of 1,122 lantern slides from the collection of Wilbur A. Fiske, who was the head of the Department of Geology at Occidental College from approximately 1905 until 1913. The collection includes a mixture of photographic images (672) , diagrams (174) , portraits of scientists (26) , and maps (95) , plus slides of aerial photographs from two different commercial providers (97 slides from Spence Air Photo, and 61 from Geo-Aero-Photo, Oklahoma City, Okla. ). 85 slides are of images that appear to have been photographed from books or scientific papers given visible figure captions or other evidence of printed publications in them (although more slides may be photographs from publications, but it wasn't possible to make that determination). Good. Set of 110 lantern slides likely from a lecture series of the Methodist Episcopal Church, depicting scenes from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Includes 11pp of manuscript notes which correspond to some of the slides. Slides are housed in a black box which reads "Hiralal Son of Mother India" in white ink on one side. Notes are housed in a compartment on the inside lid of the box. Slides measure 4" x 3 ¼" and about a dozen are in color; there is one duplicate. The box measures 10" x 6 ¾". Overall good condition. Box has moderate chipping, soiling and wear; slides are in very good condition, a few have cracks but are still intact. Almost all slides were taken by an amateur, except for about 10 which were published by the "Lantern Slide and Lecture Department of the Board of Foreign Missions of Methodist Episcopal Church Missions."
