Rare edition of this famous satirical work, where, as the title suggests, a "Parliament of Love" renders various judgments, which are all occasions to mock playful behavior. Thus, the fourth stop is given to "a lady [who] complained about her friend, who had kissed her [kissed] so roughly, falling her, that one hardly saw the end of her shirt", the eighth, an "arrest on the different of a cord, given by the Friend to the Lover, then lost, & found in the hands of another Lover, & put in sequestration", or again the thirtieth, where "a friend complains that in order to serve his Lady he has taken everything down, which since has not taken him into account, concluding that she is condemned to maintain him as before ". Lausanne: Marc Chapuis & Compagnie, 1774. 4th. Very Good. Contemporary mottled calf with splitting joints but holding. Speckled edges with worn title on spine with equally worn gilding. Pages are crisp and clean with almost no toning. Written as a scientific text prior to the routine adoption of the scientific method, this was an influential work by Tissot on the risks and issues with masturbation which influenced contemporary and later authors and led to the concept that masturbation was itself bad for the health.  Pages: 232  Dimensions: 4 x 6¾ x ¾ .

Paris: Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1921. First Edition. Very Good. Printed in French. In original paper boards and wax wrapper. Wrapper with some chipping, especially close to the spine head and tail, as well as, smaller chips at corners. Black lettering on front, spine, and rear. Weakening at the head and tail of spine, including a 1¼  inch tear at spine head. First gathering a little loose, but holding, the remainder is all holding firm. Armoral bookplate on front board verso, name scratched out. All edges untrimmed. A Dramatic Poem in Two parts with a prologue.  Pages: 144     Dimensions: 9 x 6½ x ¾ .

London: G. G. and J. Robinson, 1794. First Edition. Very Good. Containing all 12 months for 1794, and with multiple engravings, including an antiquarian engraving of Stonehenge. Bound in marbled paper over boards with quarter calf spine. The spine has five slightly raised bands. Heavy wear to covers and especially spine with creasing, cracking, rubbing, dents, and other impacts - however, the book remains solid in its binding. Internally the book is aged, with general toning, some spotting, and trasfers of the engraved imaged on opposite pages - all text is legible and clear. Filled with short stories, essays, fashion tips, biographies (including a few articles on "The Life of Dr. Franklin [Benjamin]"), national and international news of the day, and many other items.  Pages: (6) 724 (6)     Dimensions: 8¼ x 5½ x 2.

Jacket in clear protective sheet with general wear to the edges, some creasing, small chipping, and rubbing (small tear to center of back). Black cloth over boards with red lettering on front and spine. Some scuffing and bump to top front corner and slight shelfwear. Long edge deckled, top edge stained red by printer but somewhat faded. Madrid: Imprenta de La Iberia, á cargo de J. Blasco, 1881. Facsimile [1st Thus]. Good+. An 1881 facsimile of a 13th century medieval manuscript. Translated from the Arabic to early Spanish at the commission of King Alfonso X of Castile and by a Jewish scholar, Yehuda ben Moshe. This represents one of the earliest examples of Spanish being used in the writing of manuscripts rather than Latin or Arabic. Regarding many topics including the magical properties of stones and talismans, astronomy, and philosophy. Complete with prologue, facsimile letters dated to 1883, complete Lapidario in 236 actual sized color prints on strong paper, a second manuscript in 28 actual sized color prints on strong paper, and 76 pages of contemporary to the facsimile writings. The dates of the letters leads me to believe that this book was compiled after the initial run of the facsimile with the additional letters and manuscript added - I am unable to locate another copy stating that these pieces are present. Gilding on spine worn from being used, especially in section associtated with the New Testament. Paris: Par la Societe des Imprimeurs, 1639. 2nd Edition. Very Good. Divise en Quatre Livres. Original binding with 5 raised bands and gilding on the spine; classic French style. Pages are off center cut, but no impact to text. Binding is tight. 11 total small engravings. Pages lightly browned, rubbing and rounding of the corners, some wear to leather boards, and trimmed tight to margins. Overall worn but solid binding and pages. Missing 6-7 pages from the Table des Matières at the end. Contains "Supplement des Antiquitez de Paris" also dated 1639. Pages: 1200 Dimensions: 6½ x 8⅜ x 2⅞.
