He was a councillor of state under D. Pedro IV, but when an absolute monarchy was declared he was forced to flee to London, where he lived from 1823-1827. During this time he was an active member of Freemasonry. Rare COPAC lists 4 worldwide

Small marginal damp-stain to some prelims including frontis (but not title). Title & frontis with small, darker stain. Manuscript annotations on a separate leaf loosely inserted. Overall in excellent condition.

This copy scarce as a Large Paper but also as complete with the colour and gilt plates 8 & 9 and 60 & 61 missing from most other copies.
