1804. Stipple engraving. 590mm by 415mm (platemark). Her Most Gracious Majesty, Queen Charlotte. A portrait of Charlotte Sophia Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818). King George III chose Princess Charlotte of Germany as his Queen when she was only 17 years old. They had 15 children in the first 20 years of their marriage. The image shows Charlotte in her later years.This engraving by Ryder (1746-1810) and his son of the same name is after the painting by Sir William Beechey (1753-1839). Beechey was a portrait painter and greatly influenced by Sir Joshua Reynolds. He was commisssioned as Charlotte's portrait painter in 1793.1 slight crease.

Dorothy Wilding was the first female Royal photographer. CONDITION : The ink signature has faded to a sepia. There is a little toning in the bottom margin. Mary reigned jointly with her husband and first cousin, William III and II, who became the sole ruler of both countries upon her death in 1694. 1871. Wood-engraving. 585mm by 400mm (sheet). 'The Queen and the Princess Louise. A Sketch in the House of Lords at the Opening of Parliament'. From 'The Graphic'. Central horizontal fold as issued. Reverse blank. CONDITION : Faint handling creases at in margins. Princess Louise accompanied the Queen to the Opening of Parliament for the second time on 9 February, 1871. She had become engaged to the Marquis of Lorne on 3 October, 1870. Queen Victoria was reluctant to open parliament in her widowhood. This occasion in 1871 arose through her need to get agreement for Princess Louise's dowry. The marriage took place on 21 March.
