Internally there are basic descriptions of the basic rules and records and results for various major sporting events from Amateur Athletics to Yachting as well as Oxbridge and Public School records. A lovely copy clean and bright internally with just an a little light rubbing to the edges of the boards and some small ink splashes to the front and rear boards and a hand written date of 1907 on the spine. Signed to the front free end paper by both authors and Carp Angling greats Peter Springate and Mike Wilson plus others. A very good book noting only a couple of significant bruises to both bottom corners and a little very light rubbing to the spine tips. The dust jacket is just a hint faded on the spine and has a little creasing to the lower corners associated the the bruising to the boards. A scarce signed example of this modern angling classic. First Edition, 11 x 17.4 cm blue cloth with gilt stamped titles to the front and spine, 123(1)pp. The titles on the spine are a little faded and there is a touch of rubbing to the spine tips, corners and edges. Internally there is no name, inscription or bookplate but there is some toning to the endpapers and the edge of the text block. The final two text pages have been poorly opened and there is slight loss from the foredge margin although no text has been lost. All in all a good clean First Edition copy. Seventeenth Revised Edition. 10.7 x 16 cm red boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine marbled edges, xxxiv, 554pp with 69 maps and 50 plans and two ribbon book marks together with original dust jacket priced at 8/- net and 8m. A really nice complete copy of this early 20th century guide with just with clean bright boards and just a hint of pushing to the fore edge corners. Internally, there is no name inscription or bookplate and corner creases to a very few pages. The folding maps all appear undamaged and there is just a little toning to the endpapers and the occasional handling mark. The lightly dust marked jacket, which is now protected in a removable clear cover (not shown), is a rare survivor with just a little creasing at the foot of the spine and a little chipping to the spine tips and corners. VG. 21 x 32.5 cm burgundy boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine and front containing a large folding map with two halves, each folded into nine sections on linen that opens out to a magnificent 127 x 93 cm with a 1:950,000 scale. The map is priced at 21/- is in full colour and has statistical tables covering a myriad of subjects from imperial revenue to postage rates and the various motor speed limits in different towns in the UK. The map's date is based on the fact that the latest date on all the tables is 1910-1911. This large, detailed and information packed map has been well protected by its cloth covers which are some what age marked with some loss of cloth to small areas on the front and back boards, although the gilt titles remain bright. The spine has splits on both joints at the top and bottom ranging from 4.5 - 7.5 cm but the binding remains firm. All edges gilt, pale blue-grey endpapers, iv, 76(2)pp with 36 chromolithographic illustrations 4 of which are double pages. There is a little light dust staining to the boards with a few white marks (paint) at the top of the rear board. The binding is firm but there is a 3cm split in the cloth on the front joint and a couple of 5mm holes in the cloth at the foot of the spine and a 2mm hole at the head. There is a little rubbing to the corners edges and spine tips together with some bruising to all four corners. Fawn endpapers, xli 362 pp with 39 black and white illustrations and six vignettes. Together with an additional complete suite of illustrations 19 x 28.5 cm signed by the illustrator, tied in a green ribbon and contained within a cloth chemise with a paste down image echoing that on the book. Both are housed within a double slip case. The dust marked and slightly spotted slip case has protected the book and the illustrations well. Both the book and the illustrations are clean, bright and unmarked noting only a touch of toning to the spines. The boards have been well protected by its jacket and are clean and bright with just a hint of pushing to the spine tips. Internally, there is a gift inscription dated 1944 on the front free endpaper but otherwise the pages are very clean with just the merest hint of spotting to the edge of the text block. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable clear jacket (not shown) and presents very well. It is surprisingly clean and bright with a little chipping at the head of the spine and corners, a small 4mm tear on the lower rear joint and a 1cm tear with associated creasing at the lower corner on the front panel. There is also a little creasing along the top edge of the front panel. Top edge brown, silhouette endpapers, (x), 36(2) pp with 24 full page colour illustrations with captioned tissue guards and black and white illustrations by Arthur Rackham within the text. The boards are very good in general noting only a crease to the top corner of the front board and a hint only of rubbing to the corners and spine tips. The often delicate spine is particularly nice. Internally, the book is excellent, clean and bright with no inscription, name or bookplate and only some toning to the front free endpapers. nd (c. 1960) 1960. No binding. VG. This is a glorious colour original illustration by Edwin Phillips of Robin Hood and two of his men surprising the Sheriff of Nottingham who has Maid Marion with him on horseback. It is signed 'Edwin Phillips'. The main image is 31 x 37cm, is painted on a hard board measuring 38 x 43cm. The board has a 2.5cm closed tear at the bottom right, no affecting the illustration. The verso of the board has the remains of a sticker at the centre with a partial London address and its original tissue guard is attached. This illustration is in very good condition with crisp vibrant colours. It won the 1974 Cholmondley Award and includes the 1st appearance in book form of her most famous poem 'Warning', which begins 'When I am an old woman I shall wear purple / With a red hat which doesn't go... ' which was voted Britain's favourite post war poem in a BBC poll and is the inspiration behind The Red Hat Society. A lovely association copy.
