Description:
Out of print – Located on the Kaipara Harbour in New Zealand, 45 km north of Auckland, Te Tuhirangi Contour is one of Richard Serra's largest site-specific works. The site is a vast open grass pasture with rolling hills and the fall and rise of the land establishes curvilinear contours. The sculpture is located on one continuous contour, at a length of 257m (843'2"). The particular contour was chosen for its location, differentiation, contraction and expansion in relation to the volume of the landscape. The elevation of the sculpture is perpendicular to the fall of the land and thereby generates its lean of 11 degrees and its height of 6 m (19'8").
This book thoroughly documents Richard Serra's impressive sculpture in Dirk Reinarzt's elegant black-and-white photography.

Minimal wear to dust jacket, and slight pages tanning (not affecting the content).

Description:
Near fine conditions. Average shelf life, read copy, there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages. This is the 1st Aperture edition. /// In 2001, Rinko Kawauchi launched her career with the simultaneous publication of three astonishing photobooks--Utatane, Hanabi and Hanako--firmly establishing herself as one of the most innovative newcomers to contemporary photography, not just in Japan, but across the globe. In the years that followed, she published other notable monographs, including Aila (2004), The Eyes, the Ear (2005) and Semear (2007). And now, ten years after her precipitous entry onto the international stage, Aperture has published Illuminance, the latest volume of Kawauchi's work and the first to be published outside of Japan. Kawauchi's photography has frequently been lauded for its nuanced palette and offhand compositional mastery, as well as its ability to incite wonder via careful attention to tiny gestures and the incidental details of her everyday environment. As Sean O'Hagan,… Read More
