Photo-lithograph in green ink on wove paper, 125 x 222 mm (image); 185 x 265 mm (sheet), edge tears to margins, else very good. Lithograph by an unknown artist after an etching of Adelaide first published in Nixon's Views on Adelaide and its Vicinity (1845), the first South Australian view book. Little is known of these 1880s lithographic facsimiles, however another example is held in the National Gallery of Australia (NGA 2011.1196). For the 1845 edition, see Ferguson 4124; Wantrup 233.

Tabloid newsprint, 450 x 290 mm, 20 pp, photographic illustrations throughout; toned at edges and along the light horizontal fold, otherwise in excellent condition. A very scarce complete copy of the official newspaper of the Salford 80 International Photographic Exhibition, staged at various venues in Salford and Greater Manchester in 1980.

Albumen print photograph, 145 x 200 mm, laid down on its original card mount, 245 x 295 mm; ms. caption in the negative reads: '6395. Lt. Gaunt's Squad drilling. Burton Bros. Dunedin. Protected, Oct. '99'; the print is in good condition; the mount is sunned at the edges and has a tiny amount of insect damage at bottom right corner. Lieutenant (later Sir) Guy Reginald Archer Gaunt raised this native troop, known unofficially as Gaunt's Squad, in 1899 during the Second Samoan Civil War. These fighters were loyal to Malietoa Tanumafili I, and fought alongside the British and Americans against Samoan rebels loyal to Mata'afa Iosefo.

Quarto (270 x 220 mm), half calf over marbled papered boards (boards rubbed, leather a little worn); spine stamped in gilt 'Letter Book'; alphabetical tab dividers; contains numerous copies on onion-skin paper of outgoing local and overseas correspondence (some written in Scots Gaelic), most signed by Hon. Secretary John Macdonald; complete and well preserved. Around the time of the demise of the St. Andrew's Society of New South Wales, which had become defunct by the end of 1875, two other organisations dedicated to the fostering of Scottish culture in the colony were established in Sydney. Uniform quarto (270 x 220 mm), half leather over cloth or marbled papered boards (mild rubbing and some wear to extremities), spines stamped in gilt 'Letter Book'; alphabetical tab dividers; containing a large number of copies on onion-skin paper of outgoing local and overseas correspondence, most signed by Hon. Paul DeWitt Twinem was born in Harrisville, Ohio, in 1894. In May 1922, while on the academic staff at the University of Nanking, he married Mary Dorothy Fine (b. 1895 in Trenton, New Jersey), an American Presbyetrian missionary based at Huaiyuan, in Anhui Province. Twinem himself joined the Presbyterian Mission, but only a few months later he died suddenly on 23 September, 1923, leaving Mary a young widow. Folio (315 x 260 mm), wrappers with a striking colour design of an Australian stockman by British artist Alfred Concanen, the front also with the name and address of the original Melbourne owner 'Lillie Jepson, ""Woodbine"", Clifton Hill' (wrappers lightly foxed, original owner's stitched cloth spine), 5 pp, the first four with music notation (arrangement for voice and piano) and the last with complete lyrics; edges trimmed closely, but a very good example. Trove locates only two copies (NLA; SLV)

Folio, publisher's decorative wrappers lithographed by F. Cunninghame, 7 pp of music notation (arrangement for piano); lower wrapper with full-page advertisement for Woolcott & Clarke's sheet music with hundreds of titles; leaves with browning, some short marginal tears at foot of gutter, otherwise an excellent example; housed in a modern paper portfolio (the sheet music is expertly tipped-in along the rear of the spine). Scarce. Trove locates only one copy of this sheet music in Australian collections (NLA, suggesting the date range 1859-1865), although the SLNSW does hold a copy (it does not appear on Trove).

Cover: J.C. Williamson Ltd. present the musical play Going up / book by Otto Harbach and James Montgomery ; lyrics by Otto Harbach ; music by Louis A. Hirsch ... New York : M. Quarto, original illustrated wrappers with splendid illustration of an aviatrix flying a bi-plane with women disporting themselves on the top wing; 10 pages of music notation (scored for voice and piano); a very good copy. In 1919-20 Australian promoter J.C. Williamson toured the hit American 'aeroplane musical' Going Up throughout Australia. The production starred Cyril Ritchard (1898-1977) and Madge Elliott (1898-1955). The National Library of Australia appears to hold a copy of this sheet music (with the Albert & Son imprint) which lacks the covers; the State Library of Queensland holds what appears to be the original American version from 1918 (without the Albert & Son imprint).
