Giovanni Domenico Campiglia (1692-1768) was an Italian painter and engraver from Florence, active under the patronage of the House of Medici. Illustration of an Ancient Roman marble bust from 'Musei Capitolini', a series of engravings showing the sculpture of the Capitoline Museum in Rome. Sappho was an Archaic Greek poet from Eresos or Mytilene on the island of Lesbos. Sappho is known for her lyric poetry, written to be sung while accompanied by music.

Depicts the 'Sciurus Petaurista' (Red giant flying squirrel) From 'The Naturalist's Pocket Magazine; or, Compleat Cabinet of the Curiosities and Beauties of Nature'. The magazine depicted flora and fauna from around the world, often borrowing images from other sources. It was published between 1799 and 1802 by Harrison, Cluse & Co. Accompanied with the original text that describes the illustration. CONDITION : Faint toning.

Detaille deicts a scene from the Franco-Prussian War, French soldiers review wounded German prisoners.Jean Baptiste Edouard Detaille (October 5, 1848 - December 23, 1912), was a French Academic painter and military artist noted for his precision and realistic detail.Detaille was a student of Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier. He served in the French Army in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 and became the official painter of the battles. He is famous for his portraits of soldiers and depictions of military manoeuvres, military uniforms and general military life. Some foxing in the sky area.
