Description:
Edinburgh: Printed for Archibald Constable & Co., 1805. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, 12mo, pp. viii, 532. Contemporary dark brown sheep, spine divided by gilt rules, red morocco label. Toned and foxed. Binding marked, rubbed and a little worn, small loss to head of spine. Title-page verso signed by the author to prove authenticity, various ink ownership inscriptions to endpapers. The verso of the title-page is printed: ‘The warranted correctness and established character of the Author’s Books, induce him to inform the Public, That no copy of any of them is genuine but what is signed by his own hand, as under’, followed by the author’s signature. This 1768 text was reprinted many times well into the 19th century, though this was likely the last edition signed by Thomson, who died in 1807. WorldCat and Library Hub cite only three copies of this edition at the BL, NLS, and University of Aberdeen.

Description:
Glasgow: Printed by Robert and Andrew Foulis, 1767. 8vo, pp. v, [iii], 95, [1]. Extracted from a bound volume. Some spotting, outer leaves a little soiled. A rare Foulis edition, the only printing they produced of this masque based on Fenelon's popular novel. George Graham (d. 1767) was an English writer, though with family connections to the Duke of Montrose which may explain how the London printing of his major work was followed not only by a Dublin reprint but this Scottish edition. The play received mixed reviews, though Samuel Johnson praised it, and it saw a musical adaptation. While the London first is reasonably widely held, this edition is located by ESTC in the BL and NLS only. ESTC T126027; Gaskell 466.

Description:
London: Printed for Bernard Lintott, 1715. 8vo, pp. 52, [4, ads] + frontispiece. Later blue paper wrappers. Somewhat spotted and soiled (especially half-title), margins of frontispiece and first three leaves repaired. The second edition, same year as the first, of Pope’s modernisation of Chaucer’s ‘House of Fame’. The major difference between the two editions is the advertisements at the end, which in the first edition are entirely for Urry’s edition of Chaucer, then in preparation, while in the second edition they are a general catalogue of Lintot’s publications (perhaps due to Urry’s death in March 1715; his Chaucer was thereby delayed until 1721).
