Dieter of Ohio [assumed to be the same assignor of the Springfield Engine and Thresher Company, whose name pops up in several automobile and implement patents lists] on front pastedown. A couple pencil brackets in margins, else pages clean. Not ex-library.

Octagonal collapsible tabletop candle screen composed of white cloth over stiff card stock to which is mounted to each folding panel a 3-D cloth, silk, and hand-colored paper rendering of the Eight Immortals, accompanied by a separate octagonal card paper base. Cloth slightly foxed at extremities, perished tape repair visible on the interior (but not externally), abrasion from removed sticker to base piece significantly affecting the "Made in Hong Kong" rubber-stamp, else a Very Good example. Attractive example of a popular theme for a tabletop candle screen, the Eight Immortals holding the power to banish evil.

Binding is sound. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper and pages otherwise unmarked. In this memoir Griffis claims he grew up as a Kiowa warrior and later became an army scout. Though Griffis' myriad adventures are difficult to prove, historian Arthur C. Parker does vouch for their authenticity in the introduction.
