This volume is part of the Franklin Library's series of Mystery Masterpieces. The Buchan book is a classic and with the Gorey illustrations (originally done for a Swiss limited edition in '67) a beautiful book to hold.

Beautiful gift inscription in ink on FFEP (dated Xmas 1903) as well a "please return" stamp. Hinges good. Pg 192 has a 3" tear at gutter and adjacent plate was badly repaired from an earlier tear. A wonderful book by an author that can take his place as a true naturalist (like Muir and Thoreau) and who instigated a movement that was a precursor to Powel's Scout movement. Illustrations by the author. Indexed. First Canadian Edition.

As a cub reporter for the Toronto Star newspaper Morley Callaghan worked along side Hemingway in Paris and was friends with Fitzgerald. It was the summer of 1929 and this is Callaghan's account of his tangled relationship with these two writers and friends. Blue boards with yellow paste downs. A near fine book (PO sig on FFEP- else FINE) in a dust jacket with a small 1.5 cm closed tear at bottom front and some corner rubbing/chips to back lower flap.
