The dust wrapper has some moderate wear at the spine tips and with some closed tears also present. It has not been price clipped, showing the original 10s. 6d. net price. The boards are fine in the publisher's red cloth and the text blocks are free from foxing throughout. This copy is free from previous owner's ink and is, overall, in very good (or better) condition.One review at the time of publication praised the essence of the plot but felt the latter half of the novel moved too slowly. A later review considered that this novel showed "Definite signs of decline" and felt the author was not entirely comfortable with the setting she described in the novel.
