Large plastic negative; highly detailed lithograph; lithographer's tape near top edge shows signature - possibly the artist's. Strip of orange plastic affixed to bottom with lithographer's tape. 2-inch dent near bottom middle; a few very small (less than ¼ inch) dents, mostly near edges; overall in very good condition. This map negative shows both the Death Valley Railroad between Ryan and Death Valley Junction, and the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad, as well as the Santa Fe Railroad, all of which were used to transport the borax mined by PCB. Two very small cuts at top edge. Paper thinned in several areas: not affecting print. Very Good Condition. Etching by Simone Cantarini (1612-1648) titled "Virgin Crowned by Two Angels. Cantarini was an Italian painter and etcher. He was known for his paintings of historical subjects while his etchings "achieved extraordinary delicacy and a vibrant and luminous quality in his graphic work." (Marina Garofoli. "Cantarini, Simone." Grove Art Online. Oxford Art Online. Oxford University Press). This etching portrays two angels holding a crown over the Virgins head with three more cherub figures near her feet. The Metropolitan Museum of Art dates their copy of this etching to 1639.
