The magazine's editors made history by holding annual competitions for the best story among novice authors in Russia. "World of Adventures" was the first magazine in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union to exclusively publish works of adventure and fantasy genres by Russian and foreign writers, as well as essays and articles about exciting achievements of science and technology. Both domestic and foreign artists superbly illustrated the magazine.
