Ambroise Monprofit (1857-1922) was a doctor and surgeon from Angers. He served as the mayor of Angers (like his father) from 1908 to 1912 and as a Republican deputy from 1910 to 1914 and from 1919 to 1922. In 1895, he built the cellar of Clos des Sables in the heart of a vast vineyard in the Coteaux-du-Layon appellation, in the municipality of Champ (now a part of the new municipality of Bellevigne-en-Layon).
