1837. Steel-engraving. 135mm by 175mm (platemark) 200mm by 265mm (sheet). Fine detailed india-laid engraving from James Ingram's 'Memorials of Oxford'. John Le Keux was a line engraver who had studied under James Basire and Frederick Mackenzie was an English watercolorist and architectural draughtsman. CONDITION : Foxing spot at top of plate mark. Some tiny ink spots from time of printing lower left corner.

1925. Etching. 215mm by 250mm (platemark). Signed in pencil by the artist lower right. Walcot was born in Russia and moved to London in 1907. He trained and practiced as an architect before devoting himself to architectural etching. He is works are highly regarded.CONDITION: Good, light brown line from previous mount bordering but outside the platemark.

1891. Wood-engraving. 400mm by 290mm (sheet). Gordon Frederick Browne RI RBA was an English artist and a prolific illustrator of children's books in the late 19th century and early 20th century. From 'The Illustrated London News'. Unrelated text on the reverse. Fan interest.

1835. Lithograph. 230mm by 145mm (sheet). The Author of Waverley' . Sir Walter Scott, 1st Bt (1771-1832) was a Scottish novelist and poet. He was an immensely successful writer before turning to the great historical romances for which he is now best known. Works like Waverley (1814) and Rob Roy (1817) had a seminal impact on the creation of Scotland's national identity. A passionate Tory, a proud landowner and a co-founder of the Quarterly Review, with Byron, Scott was among the most popular and commercially successful writers of his age. A couple of marks at the top of the sheet.

1799. Sepia aquatint. 150mm by 225mm (sheet). Aquatint published by Samuel Ireland. From his 'Picturesque Views on the River Thames'. Ireland was an author and engraver who published several series of aquatint views in the late 18th century.

1914. Stereoview - silver gelatin photograph. 85mm by 177mm (card). George Rose (1861-1942) was a Melbourne photographer who started his business 'The Rose Stereograph Company' circa 1880 producing three-dimensional photographs - stereoviews / stereographs. He travelled Australia and the world with his stereoscopic camera, producing stereographs for the home and overseas markets. Reverse blank.

1852. Wood-engraving. 380mm by 270mm (sheet). Images titled as follows - 'Waimati Church and Burial Place of British Officers', 'Commanding Officers, Wau Rua Pekareka', 'War Dance of New Zealanders' 'Group of Maories'. Unrelated text on reverse as issued.

1930. Etching. 120mm by 200mm (platemark). Editioned (3/30), titled and signed in pencil by the artist. Warner studied commercial art at Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney. He worked with the Design Research Unit, London, later the Festival of Britain. During the 1939-45 War he worked as a camouflage artist and later as an official war artist. Postwar, he returned to his graphic arts career executing watercolour, prints, posters, stamps and other works. A few small foxing spots mainly in the margins.

1835. Lithograph. 225mm by 145mm (sheet). The Author of 'The Sketch Book''. Washington Irving was an American author, essayist, biographer and historian. His historical works include biographies of George Washington, Oliver Goldsmith and Muhammad, and several histories of fifteenth-century Spain. After moving to England for the family business in 1815, he achieved international fame with the publication of The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent in 1819. His short stories The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'and Rip Van Winkle, appeared in that book. Some surface soiling esp top left and at the bottom of the sheet.

1859. Wood-engraving. 275mm by 210mm (sheet). Depicts Charles Gavan Duffy with the paint brush. Other sitters include the Premier of Victoria John O'Shanassey. From 'Melbourne Punch'. Melbourne Punch began in 1855. From 1855-1861 Nicholas Chevalier was one of the principal cartoonists most of whose work was engraved by Samuel Calvert. Reverse blank. One foxing spot at the top of the sheet.

Schell was an American employed as senior illustrator on The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia. He exhibited drawings in The Grafton Gallery 'Exhibition of Australian Art in London' 1898. From 'The Picturesque Atlas of Australasia'. Blank reverse. CONDITION : A couple of small foxing spots in the image. Scattered foxing in left and right hand margins. Further foxing evident on the reverse of the sheet.
