John Le Keux was a line engraver who had studied under James Basire and Frederick Mackenzie was an English watercolorist and architectural draughtsman. CONDITION : Foxing spot at top of plate mark. Some tiny ink spots from time of printing lower left corner.

1930. Etching. 120mm by 200mm (platemark). Editioned (3/30), titled and signed in pencil by the artist. Warner studied commercial art at Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney. He worked with the Design Research Unit, London, later the Festival of Britain. During the 1939-45 War he worked as a camouflage artist and later as an official war artist. Postwar, he returned to his graphic arts career executing watercolour, prints, posters, stamps and other works. A few small foxing spots mainly in the margins.

1835. Lithograph. 225mm by 145mm (sheet). The Author of 'The Sketch Book''. Washington Irving was an American author, essayist, biographer and historian. His historical works include biographies of George Washington, Oliver Goldsmith and Muhammad, and several histories of fifteenth-century Spain. After moving to England for the family business in 1815, he achieved international fame with the publication of The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent in 1819. His short stories The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'and Rip Van Winkle, appeared in that book. Some surface soiling esp top left and at the bottom of the sheet.
