Lakeside Press: Portland ME, 1892. Near Fine/No Dust Jacket As Issued.
Pictorial wrappers with engraving of the hotel on front, stitched. [8] pp. Illustrated. 8.4 by 13.4 cm (3.25 by 5.25 inches), Illustrated with drawings; No Flaws or Blemishes but minimal shelf handling and light even age-toning.
Includes an advertisement with a drawing for the Watch Hill House in Rhode Island and for the Clyde Steamship Company on the rear cover and a historical overview of Sanford. A delightful and uncommon pamphlet highlights the Sanford House Hotel, meticulously constructed by Henry Sanford in 1876.
Designed to allure tourists and accommodate aspiring affluent residents in the burgeoning city of Sanford, this establishment stood proudly at the nexus of Commercial Street and Palmetto Avenue, offering a picturesque waterfront view. The hotel, spanning three stories, with two adorned with charming porches, boasted ample accommodations to cater to the needs of up to 150 guests.
The hotel's landscaping included flower beds and citrus trees. A boardwalk led visitors straight from the hotel to the shores of Lake Monroe. At the turn of the century, the Sanford House Hotel was the center of all major city events and celebrations.
While guidebooks from the period often included positive references to the hotel, it failed to attract many visitors. The Sanford House Hotel was torn down in May of 1920.

Description:
ca. 1935. Very Good. Printed bill, 35 x 50 cm. Blue ink on paper. Restored and laid down. The propaganda war against Francos forces in Spain was fought largely with posters. These were pasted up on walls in the night at great risk not only to those putting them up, but to the printers, artists, and organizers, too. The Socorro Rojo Internacional (S.R.I.), a creation of the Communist International Congress of 1922, was intended to function as a support and aid organization (providing soup kitchens, medical care, etc.) but also propagandized energetically. This poster declares War unto Death! To the provocateur, the spy, to anyone who sows discontent and fear. Lets end the Fifth Column. The little figure is composed of multiple eyes and antennae, keeping watch and listening. Such posters were willfully destroyed, and surviving examples are rare.

Description:
London: Bemrose & Sons , 1881. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 5.5" X 8.5. 39pp., A classic study on the origins of place names in the English county of Derbyshire. This copy has had a tough life, the spine strip is missing and both hinges are weak. The pages themselves are all soundly bound. The book includes some related ephemera, including a letter and several newspaper cuttings, mainly from the 1920s. (Includes the author's obituary). Some cuttings are stuck to the pages, but all text is still quite readable. There is the signature of a previous owner (William S Longbottom) at the top of the title page. William Longbottom was better known by his pen name of Horace Weir, the author of many works on the history of Derbyshire. Please note that this is a 19th century produced copy and not a modern reproduction. All orders processed and shipped promptly from the UK, usually within 24 hours. Please call or email with your questions about this book. Not available for…
