1860 two volume hardcover set as pictured. A very handsome edition of The Marble Faun, otherwise known as Transformation: Or The Romance of Monte Beni. Covers have black leather over lays and gilt tooling to fronts and spines. Colored edges, head and tail bands, marbled endpapers. Copyright Edition stated on title page of each volume and Printing Office of the Publisher on page 292 of volume one. Frontispiece is a portrait of author facing title page in volume one. Many photographs of Rome in both volumes.Binding are firm although 4pp (263/264/265, 266) are completely detatched. Some foxing and light tanning to text pages.
