Ave-Maria Lane, London: Whittaker, Treacher & Co, 1830. Large octavo, pp xii, 564, (4), fore-edge slightly marked, a little age-toning internally, recently bound in brown cloth with paper title label on the spine. A good copy. [ Published anonymously - "by a practical horticulturist" - an original owner has neatly written "Mr Towers" on the title page.]. [Little is known of the author. An article by G.E. Fussell in the Gardener's Chronicle of 1950 points out that there is an 1828 edition also - author "A Horticultural Chymist" - and at least two variants of the 1830 edition, one by "A Horticultural Chemist" and one by "A Practical Horticulturist" as here. ]. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good.
