About This Item
Boston And New York: Houghton Mifflin Company. Very Good. 1934. First edition, first state. Signed by Peterson on front endpaper. Previous owner's somewhat comical inscription incorporates Peterson's signature into the text. Inscription reads: "To Jane and Bill with kindest regards of brother D - and Roger T. Peterson (whoever he is)." Green pebble cloth with silver lettering and illustration on front. No dust jacket. This copy has all the points associated with a first edition, first state: "1934" is printed on the title page, bog-pumper is misspelled as "bob-pumper" in the index, the illustrations of the White Egret and Whistling Swan have "dirty" plumage, and the four color plates have tissue guards with descriptive text. Light wear and soiling to edges and along spine. Light toning to pastedowns and endpapers. Overall very good. The influential field guide of ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 167 pp; Signed by Author .
