A dramatization of the 1975 Khmer Rouge takeover in Cambodia, based primarily on the accounts of journalists Sydney Schanberg and Dith Pran. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, winning two, including Best Supporting Actor for Ngor-making him the second Asian actor to win an Oscar.

Shot on location in Bangkok, Thailand, in California and New York in the US, and in Ontario, Canada.
